SYS Electromac is a fan ODM manufacturer in India. We design, tool, pilot and mass-produce table, pedestal, wall and ventilation fans that go to market under our customers’ brands — V-Guard, Usha, GM Elektra, RR Kabel, Khaitan, Venus and Luker among them — from a 100,000 sq. ft. plant at IDA Bollaram, Hyderabad, running three conveyorized assembly lines.
OEM or ODM — which one do you actually need?
The two words get used interchangeably and they are not the same thing. The difference decides your timeline, your cost and who owns the design at the end.
| OEM | ODM | |
|---|---|---|
| Who designs it | You | We do, to your brief |
| Starting point | Your drawing or an existing model | A market position and a price point |
| Tooling | Yours, or ours if the model exists | Cut for your programme |
| Typical time to first shipment | 3 weeks on an existing model | Set by the tooling cycle, quoted up front |
| Exclusivity | By agreement | Tooling used only for you |
Most buyers arrive asking for ODM and leave on the OEM route, because a fan from our existing range in their colours, their motor specification and their carton gets them to market in weeks rather than months. We will tell you which one fits before you commit to either.
Design to dispatch
The full ODM route runs through five stages. Each one ends in something you can hold or sign off on, not a status update.
- Product design. We start from the commercial brief — price point, shelf position, market, the competitor fan you are being beaten by — and work back to a specification: sweep, air delivery, wattage, blade type, body form, feature set.
- Prototyping. A physical sample before any steel is cut, so the shape, the proportions and the ergonomics can be argued about while changes are still free.
- Tooling. Moulds cut for your body, in-house. This is the long pole in the schedule and the one we quote separately and up front, because it is the part that surprises buyers who have been given a single all-in lead time.
- N-10 pilot. A short production run off the real tools, on the real line, with the real carton. You approve the pilot, or you do not, and nothing scales until you do.
- Mass production. Full line output, packed to your artwork, tested to IS 302 (Part 2/Sec 80), despatched domestic or export.
The short route: seven days to N-10
If you see a model in our existing range that already fits — and with four categories, eighteen plastic-body models and the metal range there usually is one — stages one to three do not apply. There is no design cycle and no tooling cycle. We go straight to the N-10 pilot batch, typically within seven days of techno-commercial agreement on the product. Your branding, your colour, your motor and winding specification, your carton, on a body that is already tooled and already in production.
Browse what is already tooled: pedestal, wall, table and ventilation fans.
What we need from you
- The commercial brief: target price, target market, volume over a season, and what you are competing against.
- Brand marks and carton artwork, in print-ready form.
- The motor specification — wattage, speed and copper or aluminium winding. We build either; we do not decide it for you.
- Market-specific requirements: plug type, cable length, label language, voltage where it is not 230 V / 50 Hz.
- Sign-off at the prototype and N-10 stages. These are the two gates that matter.
Tooling, IP and exclusivity
Tooling cut for a customer’s exclusive design is used only for that customer. We have run brand programmes side by side for competing companies for years on that basis, and it only works because the line between a shared standard body and an exclusive one is drawn in writing before the first mould is cut, not after.
Where a programme needs BIS certification in your own name, we can support the application with drawings, test data and factory access for the inspection.
Capacity and commercial terms
- Capacity: 150,000 units a month — 1.8 million a year — on three conveyorized lines at our Hyderabad plant.
- Backward integrated: injection moulding, wire guards, lamination stamping, die-casting and powder coating are in-house or in sister concerns on the same site.
- Minimum order: from 500 pieces per model on existing tooling.
- Standard lead time: three weeks from confirmed PO and artwork on an existing model; tooling cycle added and quoted separately on a new one.
- Domestic: ex-works Hyderabad or delivered to your depot.
- Export: FOB or CIF. We ship regularly to Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Middle East and Africa.
Quality and standards
Production runs in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility. Fans are built to IS 302 (Part 2/Sec 80) and carry a 24-month warranty. Every motor is tested online before dispatch — 100 per cent, not by sample. More on how the plant is set up is on the why SYS Electromac page.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an OEM and an ODM fan manufacturer?
An OEM builds to your design. An ODM designs the product as well as building it. SYS Electromac does both: we will build to your drawing, or take a commercial brief and come back with a fan.
How fast can I get product if I pick an existing model?
We go to the N-10 pilot batch typically within seven days of techno-commercial agreement, and to full despatch on the standard three-week cycle from confirmed PO and artwork.
What is N-10?
Our pilot stage: a short run built on production tooling, on the production line, in production packaging, ten steps ahead of mass production. It exists so that the first fan you see is the fan you will receive by the thousand, not a hand-built sample.
Do you make the tooling in-house?
Yes. That is what lets us change a body form between prototype and pilot without renegotiating with a third party, and it is why the tooling quote we give you at the start is the one that holds.
Will you sell my design to another brand?
No. Tooling cut for a customer’s exclusive design is used only for that customer.
